"Organic" gardening is becoming more and more popular these days. Some may question why though. Well, for starters, most people who grow organic gardens are trying to eat more healthy. Yet, you will still have people ask "why?". "I eat healthy. I buy fresh produce when I go grocery shopping. Why would you think I am not eating healthy?". The produce you are buying in your grocery store is likely to be the unhealthiest things you are putting in your body. Most of the seeds produced and sold to farmers AND consumers contain was is known as "Genetically Modified Organisms" (GMO's). Most of these seeds are laced with chemicals that are harmful to your body and have been found to be deadly in some cases. GMO foods have been known to cause illnesses and even cancer in some people. Why would you want to eat food that came from these seeds? Is this the type of nourishment you want to feed your children with? Even though not all of the effects of GMO's are known, and while many of us are concerned about the illnesses they can cause, there is something we can do to try and prevent from them entering our bodies. You can either buy ALL organic food at the grocery store, or you can attempt to grow and store your own non-gmo food products. Both solutions are going to bring about new challenges. These challenges, although difficult, are not entirely impossible. If you do a total switch to all organic products at the grocery store, you will need to be prepared to budget 100 to 150% more into your weekly grocery bill. Organic and gmo-free products are not as readily available as other "food" products are. The biggest challenge we all face is to switch from our current food supply system to a system which consists of ONLY healthy, quality foods that are produced from seeds that aren't hybrid or genetically modified.
